Nebraska paramedics honored for lifesaving pediatric response

Lincoln Fire and Rescue paramedics were recognized for using the Handtevy app during a critical pediatric emergency

LINCOLN, Neb. — Six Lincoln Fire and Rescue paramedics were recognized on July 27 for helping save a child’s life using a pediatric emergency app during a critical call.

Dr. Peter Antevy, the Florida emergency physician who developed the Handtevy app, presented the recognition. The app helps paramedics quickly determine age- and weight-based medication dosages and other treatment information for pediatric patients, allowing crews to deliver accurate care during emergencies, 1011 Now reported.

Update 7/29/26

Our team is finalizing the 4th proposal for year 1 of the RHTP grants this week and plan to submit it in the coming days. Recently, the RHTP Steering Committee announced an extension to the original July 31st deadline for August 7th.

So far, there have been no public announcements or awards made to the applicants of the RHTP initiatives.  There are applicants who have received requests for supporting documentation during the review stages, but that is not the case for us. We see all of this as positive news and additional confirmation that our proposals were complete.  

Once the Arkansas Ambulance Association is made aware of any funding awards, the application process will begin here for EMS services in the state.  We expect additional parameters to be given for us to follow, therefore we plan to conduct educational webinars once we finalize our internal application process.  Our plan is for this to be available online via dedicated pages on our updated website at www.arkansasambulance.com

Our Service of the Year selection committee met previously we can’t wait to make the award announcement at the AEMTA banquet next week. Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Yesterday, we were proud to deliver a decommissioned Type I ambulance from the fleet we received through our acquisition of Ouachita County Medical Center EMS to its new home at the Chidester Fire Department.

While this ambulance has retired from front-line EMS service, it still has plenty of life left to serve our community. The Chidester Fire Department will repurpose the unit as a service vehicle, helping support the department's daily operations and its commitment to protecting the citizens of Ouachita County.

At ProMed, we know that strong emergency services are built on teamwork. Our fire department partners are there beside us on countless emergency scenes, providing critical assistance that helps our EMS crews deliver the best possible care. Supporting those who support us is just one way we can give back to the communities we serve.

We appreciate the dedicated men and women of the Chidester Fire Department for everything they do each day. We wish them many more years of service from this vehicle and look forward to continuing our partnership.
